Ever since i installed my volant, i have been having engine code P0101 (maf sensor ) come on . I cleaned it, checked all connections, got an AEM dry flow fliter. Id reset the code, it would stay off for a couple hundred miles and come on. I did note the harness doesnt snap, or lock in place, but does stay in. I dont think this is the prob, bc if there was a bad connection, i think the light would come on right away, not after a couple hundred miles.....advice?

Some Xterra's just don't play well with volants. maybe you have one of them.

I think I've started having some fun with the P0101 and my volant. From the research I have done (mostly on thenewx.org), it seems that the majority of the code issues with the volant are the result of using the powercore filter.
In my case, I am NOT using the powercore but the volant oiled filter instead. Worked fine from mid-2012 when I installed the volant until November of last year. Never threw a code. All of a sudden, it threw a code...a week before I needed to get it inspected. Silly me, I didn't check the code and just brought it in for the inspection (I assumed it was going to be an O2 sensor) and failed inspection. $400 for a new MAF and a trip back to get it reinspected a week later and I thought i'd be all set.
Nope. SES light is back on with the new MAF. Anyway, now I have a few months to play around and figure out why I am getting the code. I just wish I took the "bad" MAF that Nissan replaced as a backup part since it was probably fine.
In any event, I just bought the AEM dry filter and I'm going to reset the code and give that a go. I haven't had issues with oil fouling the MAF in the xterra but have seen it happen in race cars in the past....who knows...
I'll post back here if/when i figure out what's going on with mine in the hope that it might help someone else.

Good Luck. I could never get the Volant to work right on my '06 Xterra. The best I could do without throwing a code was to use the K&N drop-in with VERY light oil. The dealer even replaced my MAF under my 100k warranty with the Volant installed since the service manager said 'it can't be the filter causing the issue' - to this day, I have no idea why it never worked.
