Post subject:  finally! I have mods! +need help w/a skid

YESSSSSSSSS
I just had my BFG ATs mounted this past friday, 33"! I had installed my shrock rocksliders late February. and my gas tank skid was put on a couple weeks ago, and already put to the test. I'm psyched on my mods so far, and cant wait to do more.

-I need help w/my gas tank skid (shrockworks). THe factory skid was ripped off at RC last year, along with the bolt head that goes into the frame on the driver side. I removed the broken bolt via drill, but there are no threads in the frame. I'm assuming there was a nut on the inside of the frame for the bolt, but its long gone now.
- I was thinking of welding some kind of handle to a nut, and passing it through the nearest frame hole (similar to the rear bolt on the sliders). Just that i dont have easy access to a welder anytime soon. Any advice or easier solutions? Thanks

I thought i could, But there doesn't seem to be enough metal on the frame to retap

Is it the bolt that goes up through the bottom of the frame?

i broke the heads off all of my bolts removing the oem gas skid. i had a guy fix it after i broke 2 drill bits, a tap, and an easy out trying to do it myself.

he broke the welded nuts off on accident too. his solution was to drill out the frame holes big enough to press in a nut then welded it into place. the factory nuts are just tack welded to the inner surface of the frame/crossmembers. im not sure the factory skids were meant to be used for anything other than brush guards.

the guy wanted to charge me $25 and was nervous that he was taking advantage of me. i thanked him and gave him $40. i know this doesn't help without a welder, but i thought it was a great solution.

@tomsredx yes, thats the spot exactly.

@Murphy, thanks thats my same situation. I didnt think of just widening the hole, seems a bit easier than trying put a nut in through the back. Either way ill need a welder. Guess I have to try and make it to my old high school and borrow theirs.

Put a little anti seize on the bolts when you install them. makes life easier when removing them.
