Pretty cool. I deal with multi-stage planetaries a lot in the robots that we design. Only takes 3 or 4 stages to get to 1000:1 ratios. The brushless motors are so small that they have brass flywheels on the back of them.

My college used to have a similar display in the lobby of the science center. Except the last gear was cast in cement.
