NEXTerra visits 508 Intl
Image

When: Sunday, September 13, 2020

Meeting Time: 9.00AM. Leaving for the trails at 9.30 AM

Location: 508 Intl, 219 BROOKFIELD RD, CHARLTON, MA

Trail Details:
We will be wheeling at 508 Intl at their open Jeep day. Gates open at 9am, you are responsible for buying your own pass ($30) & signing their waiver. See their website for details & to buy a virtual pass.

The trails are stock friendly but the trails are narrow with lots of trees. In dry conditions the risk of damage is low, caused primarily by driver inattention. If the trails are slick, the risk of sliding/rubbing a tree is higher.

Airing down is recommended & so is having skids/sliders although they aren't too crucial. There's plenty of parking at the trail head. Bring water, lunch & any other essentials you & any passengers need.

Follow any COVID travel orders that are in effect - MA has specific restrictions for out of state travelers. You are required to wear a mask where the 6foot physical distance cannot be maintained outdoors & anywhere indoors.

Sign up below to tell us you're coming - this is only so we know to wait for you. You are required to get your own pass & waivers from 508Intl.

Once you check in, look for me - fat guy, glasses, grey hair, club shirt, black 4door Jeep Rubicon.

Oh I can't wait for this! Since the last time I wheeled with the club, I've added a winch, SPC UCAs, 1.5" spacers and PRG shackles. Let's break it!

I'm so confused about this place. They also have slacklining, yoga, and disc golf?

They have all kinds of things going on....hence the schedule. Everything doesn’t happen on the same day.

Hell, if I could get wheeling and disc golf in on the same day, that would be awesome.

And Suresh, I know you love yoga...

Suresh, I saw you mentioned that 508 is probably “easier” than Gremlin. If that’s the case, I may hold out and go on the Brookridge run instead. Of course, if the wife lets me out, I could do both.

Great day out yesterday - we had 4 Xterras & 3 Jeeps. Except for a few unexpected issues with a broken serpentine belt & a frayed speed sensor wire that prevented 4x4 from engaging the day still turned out great. Thanks to Dave, the frayed wire was sorted out in short order.

It was 508Intls 9/11 remembrance day & there were a few nice touches to commemorate it as well.

We also got to use a couple of new winches/recovery gear & use a new HiLift as well.

Our next run is at Brookridge. See you guys then.

This is the only picture I took all day:

Thanks for leading the charge Suresh.

If you go on Instagram and look up #nexterraclub you should find 10 pictures or so that I posted. Sadly, they're mostly of me but there are some others too.

All,

I had such a blast experiencing my first trail run with these guys! Thank you to Suresh and Dave and the rest of the crew for helping me out when my speed sensor wire gave out. It was such a great experience to actually be the driver on the trails this time (was a passenger before at GoneMoab 2019). I will most definitely be looking forward to future runs, bringing more knowledge and preparation.

Thank you to Nexterra and the 508 Intl for the experience!
Mase
