Are you folks not interested in shirts for this and future events?

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the effort as I might not make the minimum this time around.

I'm definitely interested in shirts for future events. Life has kept me off the trails this year, hoping '23 will be better.

I am going through the checklist and I was just wondering if there are any recommended spare parts you guys usually bring and what kind of tools you suggest I have beyond the basics.

Also, how late do we plan to be out and about at Rausch? I am trying to gauge if I want to get a hotel for the 14th or just drive back the 4.5 hours after we're all done.

Are you driving up that morning or coming in the night before? I’ve done a 4hr drive back many times & it’s worked out. But I recommend staying at least one night if not both. A long day on the trails + a long commute is not the best combo. That’s assuming no breakage or other things that might come up that you might need to worry about.

I normally budget for 6-7hrs on the trails.

Rausch will let us wheel until 5pm (dusk) but it will really depend on conditions.

In the past I've been there in deep snow or extreme ice and half the park was inaccessible.
The first time I did this run at the old Paragon it was icey rain and we were out after about 4 hours. I hit a downed tree on I80 that night heading home and almost lost the truck.

Other times it's been so beautiful ya never want the day on the trail to end, left the parking lot in the dark and came back the next day to wheel the morning before heading home.

I've got less of a drive than you and still always drive there the night before and leave the day after. I've done the "same day" thing and it has always left me stressed no matter what type of day I've had on the trails. Kinda defeats the purpose for me...

I'll be at Twin Grove on Friday afternoon thru Sunday morning.

I never heard that story before. How much damage was done to your truck?

None!
That year there was a crazy ice storm throughout PA. All the trees were iced up causing many to fall. Paragon was nuts, completely iced over. We did a few trails, but it was impossible, no traction and very low hanging tree branches blocked the trails. We mostly stayed near the “line up area” inside the park, that was huge, and drove around “drifting” the trucks at high speed. Fun but gets tiresome after a while. Unfortunately, all the pictures I know of that day are lost to the old “XterraFirma” boards picture hosting.
Back in those days I would travel north on I81 to I80 to I380 were my in-laws have a house in the Poconos and stay there after wheeling.
That night while traveling east on I80 I came upon a tractor-trailer doing about 20mph in the right lane of the two-lane interstate. I decided to pass him. I was only doing around 30 but was committed when out of the dark appeared a downed tree blocking the entire left lane. I could not stop in time because of the weather. Could not move into the clear lane because of the tractor-trailer. I gave it a little gas, held a straight track, said a prayer and hit the tree. The truck got a bit of air, landed straight and I pulled off at the next exit.
The truck seemed okay and I continued, all good.

Too early, but it looks like their forecasting some icy conditions. Friday is high of 42 low of 32 with 60% chance of snow and rain mix. The temps drop on saturday so this could all freeze overnight.

I plan to get a hotel nearby on the 13th and then play it by ear on the 14th depending on how late it goes and how I am feeling.

My girlfriend bought me a rooftop tent for my birthday but she isn't feeling adventurous enough to set it up in January

FYI: Rausch raised their prices. Membership is now $60. $70/day for driver $25/day for passenger.

Is there anyway to sign up and pay for Rausch online or does it all need to be done on site in person?

In person. You can download & prefill their membership form & waiver so you don’t have to do it there.
