Thanks guys. There is still some work needed on it. I need to get a new battery first, and then I hope the charging system is working properly. Also, one of the carbs likes to leak a bit of gas. Looks like I will be taking them off and doing service to them. From the test runs that I have made so far, the bike is FAST!!!. It is sputtering above 6000 rpm, but that high an rpm isn't even really needed. |

Ahh, those old Honda in-line engines are great. I had a SOHC750 Super Sport back in the day. Easy to work on and last forever. You might only have to re-seal the float bowls in the carbs stop the leak and sputtering. Clean the muck out of the float bowls and jets while it?s apart; the high RPM is where those engines come alive so you should try to get them back (mine was in the "red" for most of it's life with me). Nice pick up. |

I had one of those a long time ago and they are great. look for something called a battery tender jr (on ebay for about $25 and hook it up to your battery and a regular power outlet. It'll keep your batter continually charged and ready to go. It might also be called a battery minder jr, but either way, it's a great way to keep the battery up and running. As for the carb, that's a relatively easy fix and I remember having to do it to mine. The power will surprise you until you get used to it. My bike is just under 1700cc and I was gentle on it at first because it was so much more than I was used to. But now, I'm already looking for ways to increase it. Tom's right about the possible fix to the carb as those things are pretty straightforward. And, he's also right that they will pick up noticably at the higer rpms. |

Thanks Mike & Tom. I am probably going to pull the carbs off tomorrow and give them a good cleaning. I also need to put them new plugs in it. |
