Boy, do I know the feeling. LOL I don't see my wife being "enthusiastic" about going to these events. So, I'll say, "OK, well I'm going and I'll take our son AJ along with me. You're welcome to come and take our youngest son Sean. Feel free to stay home."

I don't want to deal with the drama. You don't want to come... fine. Stay home. But don't give me crap cuz I wanna go. lol
