Welcome to the ECXC 2021 Trail Group Discussion!

The East Coast Xterra Challenge (ECXC) is an Xterra only event.

This year there will be three (3) Group types; "Green" or “Stock”, "Blue" or “Intermediate” and “Black" or "Advanced” on Thrsday and Saturday.
Friday @Rausch there will also be a "Competition" Group.

Attendees will not be “Locked” into a group until they arrive.
Preference for a “Trail Leader” will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis.
Trails that are run by a group are determined by the Groups ”Trail Leader”.

"Green" or “Stock” - Stock trails range in difficulty from flat dirt roads to slightly off-camber and rocky trails. Stock trails are best suited for inexperienced wheelers and bone stock vehicles. Threat of vehicle damage is non-existent as long as you drive responsibly, however brush scratches are possible. Stock Trails include easier green trails.

"Blue" or “Intermediate” - Intermediate trails offer more of a challenge for slightly modified vehicles. Trails will be rockier, may have more off camber situations and may include rocky creek crossings. Bone stock vehicles can handle most of these trails, but without skid plates and rock sliders, both undercarriage damage and rocker panel damage should be expected. The threat of damage on these trails is minimal, but should not be unexpected. Careless or inattentive driving will result in body damage. Harder Green trails and easier Blue Trails at Rausch Creek would be taken in this group.

"Black or “Advanced” –I wouldn’t run them without 33’s or bigger, a winch, full protection, a carefree attitude towards damage, the tools/parts/ability and supplies to repair breakage. Blue, Blue/Black, Black trails (depending on group make-up) will be run by this group.
This Group will not be an assigned “Advanced Trail Leader”. As soon as any two or more trucks show up in the morning they can go run trails and not stand around waiting for someone to hold their hand. If you are in any way uncomfortable with this you should run with an "Blue" or “Intermediate” group...at least for the first day.

"Competition" - "The ECXC 2021 Competition" will be run on Friday morning on Black/Red type trials. It will be open to all fully paid drivers. Only a Nissan Xterra can win. Details to follow...

If you are not listed or in a Group you don’t want to be in post-up in this thread.

There is no “Trail Leader” assigned for Advanced Groups.
No one (Stock, Intermediate or Advanced) is required to run within a “Group” with a “Trail Leader”.
If there are at least Two trucks together just give me a heads up and a cell number (so we can make sure you are out of the park and safe at the end of the day) and go
.

UPDATED 07/02/21

I'm still looking for a "Trail Leader" for Friday Intermediate to help John

Tommy, I can lead the greens around AOAA.

Also, I would suggest that AOAA "blue" trails would fall into your "black/advanced" description above. 33s, full armor and a locker are necessary, imo.

Thanks Jeff.
I agree with you on the trail ratings at AOAA but there are enough senior guys signed up in that group that know what they're doing. I don't think we need to worry about them.

Thanks Dave but I don't see that as an option. Even if everyone in the "Friday Green Group" decides to watch the competition they wouldn't be able to follow the same route as the "Teams". They'd need to be lead to at least one of the "Obstacles" via a "Green" trail.?

Anyone else want to lead Friday, Stock at Rausch

Received this email from Pete/Infocusnyc, wanting to switch from Advanced to Intermediate on Sat.

“I didn't realize my buds were doing intermediate for Sat. Can I be switched into that group that day? Thanks and sorry for the trouble.

Infocusnyc - Pete”

Tom - I’ve been to AOAA just once before but I can help Tom by leading second intermediate group on Thursday.

I can lead an second intermediate group or the stock group on Friday, either one will need to wait till I’m done helping with the competition.

I’m no longer spotting for the competition so I can lead a group Friday if you still need it.

I'm going with the ground tent. Just spent my last day off before ECXC getting new tires and replacing my exhaust. Still got more to get done, but I'll be there!ImageImage
