I would love to go back to this trail but I have to work this weekend
If I was off,
I would be attending the NEA meeting in Vt. anyway.
Just a heads up that OFR is a tough trail for an IFS rig.
because of the limits of flex in the F/E.
and with out any locker it is twice as tough.
you flex out and loose traction front or rear and it stops you dead.
The last time the group was there with 10+ rigs
we lost a clutch before the first obstical
blew out a hub ass. and the X was towed in TWD for the rest of the trail
a smashed quarter panel
a smashed fender
OH yeah. and I rolled the runner towing out the X with the blown clutch in the Dark....
Good times had by all
I think Scott and I were the only two rigs to climb the second step ledge
One X was close to stock at the time, that was Inliner and he did make it all the way through.
There is no use of the side trails,
even though they are still there,
they are private land and off limits.
and unless you turn around and go out the way you came, there is a water hole at the end roughly 24- 30 inches deep that you have to go through on the left side of the hole.
OFR Rig Requirements suggested
33"+ tires
a locker or a winch highly recomended
Armor is a def. must
Damage is very possible
This is to be very honest about the trail and not to say someone might not make it through with less. _________________ The Yota Guy

I agree when i went i was less as modified and broke a lot of stuff... I think now i will be a little better with a bigger lift and bigger tires but i think it still will be a very difficult trail. I do agree someone def needs a winch in the group. _________________ My Xterra On Cardomain.com |

I would love to do it again one of these days. It is a tough trail...I think we spent over 9 hours going one way and it was dark when we finally hit the hard road, which we kissed.
I bet I used my winch over thirty times on other trucks...not including the time to upright Ernies rig due to poor spotting from a now-it-all...the same guy who told me I didn't know what I was doing to right Ernie's truck. That, was a thing of beauty. _________________
